The Silent Room, the solo project of UK composer Tim Oliver, launched his debut EP Fluorescent into the world on October 18, 2024, under his Meddle label. This release follows the premiere of his first single ‘You’ll Never Know’ on CLASH. Fluorescent features collaborations with artists Jess Greenfield, Owen Parker, Sam Wilcock, and Iain Hornal. Before this venture, Oliver gained experience as a keyboardist, touring with notable artists such as Neneh Cherry and Boy George, and performing at major festivals like Glastonbury. He has also appeared with Lady Gaga on BBC’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and composed music for the BBC series Jungle Atlantis and episodes of Horizon. Inspired by Pink Floyd, The 1975, and Peter Gabriel, The Silent Room combines ethereal synthscapes reminiscent of M83, TOTO, and Cannons, resulting in a unique and enchanting sound.

Fluorescent is a spellbinding debut from The Silent Room. The ethereal title track effortlessly transitions into the vibrant dance anthem ‘Veins’, both infused with the lush nostalgia of 80s dance music. Meticulously-crafted synthscapes shimmer alongside reverb-drenched guitars and pulsating drum machines, creating an intoxicating rhythm, while The Silent Room’s soulful vocals weave through this sonic tapestry, drawing listeners into a hypnotic embrace.

The Silent Room shared: “This EP is a bit of a retrospective for me, musically as well as personally.  I love being in the world it lives in. I’ve always been drawn to records that flow well from start to finish and reward repeated listens, so I hope Fluorescent does the same for you.”
